[Antenna Gain vs. "ERP" - Calculations]

Q & A:  Formula: Effective Radiated Power = [ P-input x 2 to the "x" power; "x" = sq. root (1/3 "db" antenna gain x total number "N" of antennas.) ]

Q1. What is the "ERP" (power mult. factor) of a single dipole antenna w/3db gain?

A1.  ERP = 2.0 watts / watt - input

Q2. What is the total "ERP" / watt - input (total) of an array of 128 dipole antennas, each with an individual gain of 2.34db over unity?

A2. (You decide)

Q3. If you have a dipole antenna array with an overall gain of 30db, what is the ERP/watt of input?

A3. P-input x 2 to the "x" times square root of (30 / 3 or 10th power) = ERP (watts)    [1 watt input w/30db gain = 1,024 watts ERP]

A4. (you decide)

Q5. What's the ERP / watt - input (total) of 4 dipoles in an array, each having 3db gain?

A5. (you decide)

Q6. What's the ERP / watt - input (total) of 128 dipoles in an array, each having 2.34 db gain?

A6. (you decide)

Q7. If you add 3.1416" to the "circumference" of a baseball, how much does its diameter increase? (Formula: pi x d = circumference)

A7. 3.1416" / pi = 1"

Q8. If you add 3.1416" to the "circumference" of the earth, how much does its diameter increase? (Formula: pi x d = circumference)

A8. 3.1416" / pi = 1"

Sounds crazy, right? Throw this one out to your buddies on 3720 / 3740 kHz later tonight and see what your responses might be.
